MAC Face & Body VS. Chanel Vitalumiere Foundation Comparison

I thought I'd do this post as I've never seen anything like this and it surprised me as they're so similar! Apologies for my goose pimples in the pictures I was a little cold but this is England in February!

Left: MAC Face & Body Right: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua

Both are in the lightest shades available (C1 from Mac and 10 Beige from Chanel) and as you can see on first application they look pretty scarily yellow and I must note the skin on my forearm is VERY PALE so it looks like I have the colour completely off from my skin tone... However the skin on my face is slightly darker plus it blends out and settles down when dry.

The Chanel foundation absolutely needs to be shaken before use as the clear and thick parts (technical terms..) separate and it's gross and will never apply to your face nicely. This isn't so necessary with the MAC foundation.

They both have similar packaging with a screw top and a squeezy applicator which either you'll like or not as you can squeeze far too much out (like I did in these images). The MAC one especially is poor in that no matter how hard I'll screw the lid on it still seems to have escaped by next opening...

Both are water-based which makes them super light coverage which obviously avoid if you don't like. They blend like a dream due to this formula, I tend to use my fingers (as suggested with the Chanel) or a Real Techniques blending brush but you use so little product I'd avoid most brushes, particularly real-hair ones as they just soak up the foundation.
Overall I think I SLIGHTLY prefer the MAC face & body. I find it's a better match for me skin colour wise. It's a better value for money MAC £21.50 for 50ml and Chanel £32 for 30ml. I really don't think there's any better in terms of packaging however the leakage from MAC is a downside. Chanel has an SPF whereas MAC doesn't and I do think that SPFs are pretty important but I believe they have flashback in photos? So whatever is important to you! I still can't believe I've never seen a comparison of these two foundations but I hope this has helped.

If anyone has any improvements for my blog or this post please comment below :)
